Adelphi Building Phase 1 and 2

Overview

The Adelphi building was first constructed in the 1930s and later substantially refurbished in 1979.  In 1993 two floors were added to the top of the building, extending it to 13 levels of accommodation above a large car park . The building occupies a sloping site on the North banks of the Thames, adjacent to the Savoy Hotel just off the Strand. The 30,546m² building is currently used as office space. This is a Grade II listed building due to its marble internal stair case and art deco entrance foyer at Level 3.

The enabling works completed by ourselves consisted of a main strip out works on Levels 7 – 11 totaling to a size of 17,040m². The next phase involves up-grades and extension of WC areas and the associated works to core services and risers, refurbishment of lift and stair lobbies and fit out of office space to CAT ‘A’ level.

The building presents some significant challenges including floor to floor ceilings with narrow ceiling voids and due to the age of the building there is likely to be elements of asbestos.

Designer Group is responsible for the all Mechanical and Electrical installations.
