Senior Procurement Buyer

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Through influence and challenge develop strong working relationships with stakeholders to support, endorse and deliver subcategory plans aligned to category procurement strategies to realise business savings and support innovation
  • Build and deliver subcategory plans aligned to Category Plans by being innovative and collaborative with various cross-functional stakeholders
  • Consistently track and report on savings targets for specified sub-categories using the agreed process
  • Using sound judgement build new and develop existing supplier relationships to ensure continued suitability and create greater value across the organisation
  • Support the business to achieving compliance with legal, ethical and safety procurement policies with integrity and good judgment
  • Delivering a robust revenue generation plan and budget, while tracking performance and reporting periodically
  • Introduce systems, methods and procedures ensuring the most modern sourcing methods are followed
  • Develop creative solutions for cost reduction and continuous improvement of purchasing processes and procedures
  • Liaise with the project teams to improve demand planning
  • Negotiate with suppliers in order to secure the best possible pricing and payment terms
  • Resolve account queries with suppliers that the accounts department have failed to resolve through normal procedures
  • Assist the estimating department with obtaining pre tender quotations and resolving material specification issues
  • Responding to queries from other departments in relation to stock and pricing
  • Actively minimise costs through improved use of tools, processes and application of best practice. This will be achieved through a combination of influencing stakeholders and robust planning


  • 5+ years’ procurement experience in a similar field
  • CIPS qualified at level 4 (diploma) (Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply)- desirable but not necessary
  • Cross-functional working and stakeholder engagement, managing supplier relationship
  • Skilled in negotiation, category planning, contract management and commercial acumen
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
