Training Academy Our Training Academy opened in 2016 providing our operatives with the opportunity to develop their practical experience by replicating installation standards, with emphasis upon quality, compliance Inspire, Collaborate and Engage and industry approved standards. It also assesses the competency of our operational staff in relation to both mechanical and electrical safe systems of working. Graduate Scheme We actively promote our graduate scheme, where over 18 months, our graduates develop the skills and experience necessary to begin an exciting career within our industry. To ensure our graduates develop an all-rounded skill-set, we offer rotations in a range of departments including pre-construction, design, procurement, health and safety, commercial and operations. All graduates are assigned a buddy and a mentor, ensuring they settle into their role as smoothly as possible. Together with all of our business processes, this scheme encourages regular feedback from all participants to promote continuous development and to ensure maximum benefit in terms of their experience gained. Traineeship Scheme Based upon a two - four year programme, we sponsor our trainees so they can achieve the professional qualifications they need for a long-term career within our industry, whilst also gaining relevant practical experience. Similar to our graduate scheme, we offer rotations in a range of departments including pre-construction, design, procurement, health and safety, commercial and operations. All trainees are assigned a buddy and mentor for additional support during the programme. This scheme also offers the opportunity for our trade apprentices to further progress their careers if they wish. There are several notable successes where our apprentices and trainees are now operating at a senior level within the business. Apprenticeship Scheme All apprentices joining the business are fully inducted over a five-day period at our Training Academy. This introduction prepares new team members for a long-term career within the industry by assessing their capability and attitude towards health and safety whilst also raising awareness of the company’s expectations and standards. Our four-year programme enables apprentices to complete the practical training required to achieve a fully recognised qualification in their chosen trade. The apprentices are encouraged, with the support of a mentor, to develop themselves personally ensuring they are well equipped to work within their new environment. This programme allows our apprentices to grow with the business and has led to an array of dynamic opportunities being available to them within Designer Group.
